Why this theme?

Modern business relies more and more on facts and figures. The latest quality programs (including Six Sigma) are very popular among the general public because they reduce in a measurable way the costs of doing business with two-digit percentages and thus systematically increase the company profitability.

By analysing existing processes or products in a statistically sound way, not only the cause of the problems will become apparent, enabling the reduction of failure costs, but also an increase in customer satisfaction will occur.

Moreover, the use of statistical tools and powerful graphs should not be restricted to existing processes and products, but can also be used to verify the robustness of new products by using e.g. design of experiments.

What can you expect during this training?

The purpose of this training is the refresh the basics of statistics and to learn several new statistical tools and techniques, with the intent to be able to apply them and interpret the results by using the Minitab software.

After this course, you will be able to make sharp analyses of the available statistical data, by which you will gain insight. You will be able to convey a clear message by using visually appealing graphs and making solid reports by using MINITAB. During the training, a lot of attention is paid to choosing the right tools based on the available data and the desired outcome.

Participants are also encouraged to bring their own data and submit specific questions or problems regarding Minitab to the trainer.

Participants willing to attend this training should have some prior knowledge about statistics and hypothesis testing. To be able to apply the acquired techniques immediately, it is essential that the participant has a laptop with the Minitab 18 software installed. Remark: interactive training

The training is set up in 4 phases:

  • Phase 1: The trainer gives a brief explanation on the background of a certain statistical technique. The theoretical explanation is regarded as a refresher and is limited to the bare minimum.
  • Phase 2: The trainer demonstrates the statistical analysis to the participants and explains how to interpret.
  • Phase 3: The participants can practice the statistical technique themselves by solving an exercise.
  • Phase 4: Group discussion on the interpretation of the result.
